Typical 2-D cave maps offer limited ability to visualize and thus interpret the data they may actually contain. My goal with this work is to produce 3-D, fully manipulative models from survey data that can be collected or approximated by the cave explorer. This is a standard survey map of the Kirkgoz-Suluin cave system developed in the Taurus Mountain aquifer of southern Turkey. Very little information is conveyed except the trend of the conduits.
Several cave systems like Kirkgoz-Suluin have developed at the base of the contact between the Taurus Mountains and the Antalya Travertine Plateau where the Taurus Mountain aquifer is unconfined and recharge occurs through a barren limestone surface. The entrance to Kirkgoz-Suluin is shown on the right.
